Silversea Cruises has appointed former Azamara president Carol Cabezas as its new senior vice president of global sales
In her new role, Cabezas will report to the line’s president Bert Hernandez and oversee the brand’s global sales organisation, including trade and consumer sales, call centres, and e-commerce.
Bringing more than 25 years of experience, Cabezas returns to the Royal Caribbean Group after holding senior roles across sales, finance, revenue management, and investor relations.
“Carol’s extensive experience and proven leadership across global sales functions make her a valuable addition to the Silversea leadership team,” said Hernandez. “We are confident that her strategic insight and commitment to partnership will further strengthen our position in the luxury cruise market.”
The appointment is the latest in a string of moves this year by the luxury brand to strengthen its sales operation. In May, James Edwards joined the Silversea UK trade sales team as business development manager for the south of the UK.
The move marked his return to Silversea, two years after having previously worked with the brand as a future cruise consultant on board for nine years.
Prior to that, then Silversea managing director UK & EMEA Peter Shanks announced his retirement after a 45-year career in the travel industry, with the line’s Andreas Nuessel confirmed as his successor.
A highly respected leader in the industry, Shanks led Silversea’s growth in the UK and Ireland over the last seven years, including transformational growth with the two new Nova class ships, Silver Nova and Silver Ray. He was also inducted into the CLIA Hall of Fame.
The luxury cruise line revealed Andreas Nuessel as Shanks’ successor, who himself has been managing director, Europe since 2020 where he has helped increase Silversea’s market share and presence in the territory
