James Edwards has joined the Silversea UK trade sales team as business development manager for the south of the UK
The move marks his return to Silversea, two years after having previously worked with the brand as a future cruise consultant on board for nine years.
With experience both on board and in sales shoreside, the line said Edwards will be a “strong addition” to Silversea’s growing UK trade sales team.
“His return marks the company’s enduring commitment to further strengthening its relationships with travel partners and reinforcing its dedication to providing the very best service in the industry,” the line added.
“James brings with him more than 23 years of experience in the cruise industry and a deep knowledge of Silversea and the broader luxury travel market, which will play a key role in supporting valued travel partners and further enhancing the brand’s strong trade presence.”
It comes after Silversea managing director of UK & EMEA Peter Shanks announced his retirement after a 45-year career in the travel industry, with the line’s Andreas Nuessel confirmed as his successor.
A highly respected leader in the industry, Shanks led Silversea’s growth in the UK and Ireland over the last seven years, including transformational growth with the two new Nova class ships, Silver Nova and Silver Ray. He was recently inducted into the CLIA Hall of Fame.
Nuessel has been managing director, Europe since 2020 where he helped increase Silversea’s market share and presence in the territory.
