Naples
This is the gateway to Pompeii, the ancient city buried by a volcano, and many artefacts can also be seen at Naples’ archaeological museum. The city can also be used as the start or finish point for a trip along the glorious Amalfi coastline to visit pretty Positano and Ravello.
French Riviera
For cruises leaving or arriving in Marseille, a stay on the French Riviera adds a real touch of glamour to any holiday. The sweeping stretch of shore includes towns such as Cannes, renowned for its film festival, and chic Saint-Tropez. Passengers on Nice sailings can take a day trip to the millionaires’ playground Monte Carlo and have a flutter in the famous casino.
Corsica
Situated between France and Italy and known as the ‘mountain of the sea’, Corsica is a great destination for keen cyclists and walkers. Shaped by nations including the Greeks, Romans, Genoans, French (and briefly the British) it has a rich history. When it’s time to cruise the port is right in the centre of Bastia.

Barcelona has many amazing modernist buildings created by architect Antoni Gaudi and the most famous is the UNESCO-listed Sagrada Familia church that’s the city’s symbol. Gaudi, who died in 1926, devoted the last 16 years of his life to working on the extraordinary church with its towering spires and to this day it remains unfinished.
